Pharma firms seek top talent from other sectors

A growing number of pharma firms are hiring chief executives from outside the industry in response to tougher market conditions, reports the Financial Times. Recruitment experts also see a growing trend towards the “hybrid” hiring of executives with experience in areas like human resources, finance, marketing, supply-chain and communications. “There is a clear drive to hire people with different experiences, particularly at the executive levels,” explains Peter Levin, head of the North American Life Sciences Practice at Egon Zehnder International. This move corresponds to a strategic focus on cost-cutting over the next five to ten years, agree pharma industry experts.
