Carol SingletonSlade, a consultant at Egon Zehnder International, Houston, was recently invited to address a luncheon organised by the Women's Energy Network (WEN) at the Houston Petroleum Club. In her speech entitled "Ten-Year Talent Strategies-Shaping a Bright Future in Energy" SingletonSlade discussed the future of the industry, as well as the core competencies needed in the coming decade. Stressing the critical importance of strong people decisions and functional excellence, she offered participants advice on how to make their careers successful. The event, which took place on 20 August 2008, was attended by over 60 female energy professionals and executives. WEN is an association for women professionals that provides networking opportunities for women in the energy industry and fosters career and leadership development.
