Promotion of women: Egon Zehnder International co-organizes discussion forum for HR leaders
Retaining women in the workforce and encouraging them to climb the career ladder is widely acknowledged as a key strategy for success in corporate India. A series of roundtable discussions with HR heads from leading Indian companies recently conducted by India's leading business magazine Business India and Egon Zehnder International in Delhi and Mumbai revealed that some India-based companies are even setting diversity targets to achieve this goal. Participants were invited to share best practices supporting the promotion of women. Policies introduced to assist women include flexible working hours, mentorship programs and maternity leave. However multinationals have been much faster off the mark in launching such initiatives than Indian corporations. In view of the current talent crunch, more women should nevertheless make it to the top of Indian companies in the near future.
