Egon Zehnder International participates in Thought Leadership Roundtable

A changing world economy, rising energy prices, and technology are creating several new challenges for global corporations. The latest Thought Leadership Roundtable on Digital Strategies, in a series of discussions organized by the Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth, explored these challenges and discussed the enabling role of information technology in talent management. The event, held on 17 June, focused on Global Talent and the Next Generation Workforce. It was attended by CIOs and senior HR leaders from a wide range of firms including Eaton Corporation, ING Americas, 3M, Eastman Chemical and Bechtel.

Chris Patrick, a consultant at Egon Zehnder International, Dallas, was invited to participate in this edition of the executive roundtable series for Fortune 500 CIO and functional VPs. “What we’re seeing is a great demand for truly global searches […] We’re looking globally and that could be taking talent from Europe to Asia or the U.S. or viceversa… It’s the top talent that’s a limited resource,” said Patrick, commenting on trends in recruitment. According to Patrick, performance-based pay is also making a comeback in today’s competitive hiring market. During the dot com boom, potential employees wanted equity in start-ups. “With that meltdown, we definitely saw a flight to cash,“ noted Patrick, who encourages his clients to pay their top sales people well - or face losing them to the competition. Top sales executives should be among the highest paid employees in a company as they generate high revenues, he warns.
